Integration of Hearing Impaired children in mainstream society through Auditory Verbal Therapy - Ongoing Project

Why?

AURED (Aural Education for children with Hearing Impairment) has provided habilitation to deaf children and family support, since 1986.The specific method used is known as the Auditory Verbal Approach. To maximize outcomes, early detection and intervention is essential.
which ultimately help to provide deaf children the opportunity to 'listen and speak'. To integrate children with hearing impairment to become independent, participating, contributing citizens in mainstream society.


How?

Children take part in one-on-one therapy sessions. Therapy is conducted in 4 major languages - English, Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati. Parents, are the primary caregivers, and are required to participate in every session to enable them to learn how to implement the Auditory Approach in their homes. No sign language or lip reading is used.Audiological Management & Hearing Aid selection, therapy and mapping for hearing aid users and cochlear implant recipients, and parent counselling is also done.

I also certify that the organization and I will abide by the terms and conditions of the grant/fund as established by granter/funder. I further certify that all received funds/grants will be used exclusively for the purpose stated in this proposal unless I normally request and receive prior authorization from funder for any changes. Further, I understand that if the funding is granted for the project described above it will be for an initial period of ONE year and can be extended, if necessary, by renewing the proposal. Also, regular status reports on the project will be provided by the organization to funder for the duration of the funding.
