Every Child Counts - A Citizen's Campaign

Project Proposal

Every Child Counts - A Citizen's Campaign - Ongoing Project

The Right to Education Act (RTE)of 2010, grants every child, between the age of 6 and 14 years, the right to free and quality education.
However, locating and enrolling "Out-of School children" is not being done, especially for children of migrant communities. According to a recent UNICEF Report,an estimated 16 mil. children in India migrate annually, resulting in non-enrollment and disruption of schooling.

Door Step School launched a campaign to enroll all 6-7 year old children in the city of Pune in 2012. The campaign called EVERY CHILD COUNTS (ECCC) is conceived and designed as a CITIZENS' CAMPAIGN. It envisages partnership from citizens, government, media, students and whoever is interested. Involvement of volunteers, individuals and groups is solicited in locating and enroling children in schools, and provide on-going monitoring for attendance.
